PEOPLE are invited to shout about all the things they love about Southport with the launch of the new ‘Speak Up For Southport’ campaign.
The initiative is led by SoPodio, the new podcast studio which was officially opened at Eastbank enterprise arcade by former world champion boxer Tony Bellew in June, and by Stand Up For Southport.
They are asking those living or working in Southport, or who love visiting, to share your videos letting the world know ‘Why I Love Southport’.
The campaign is launched as the town gets ready to enjoy 2 of its biggest annual events - Southport Flower Show (20 Auhust - 23 August 2026) and Southport Air Show (29 August and 30 August 2026).
SoPodio, Southport’s Podcast Studio, is led by an experienced producer and Southport resident, Geoff White, whose ambition is to drive up the quality and quantity of positive media about, and produced in, Southport.
Based in the newly refurbished Eastbank, the studio is professionally equipped and produces high quality podcasts with local businesses, organisations and individuals.
Stand Up For Southport is led by Andrew Brown, who created the platform 6 years ago to create a positive voice for the town.
Geoff White and Andrew Brown said:- “We want Southport to be seen for the amazing place it is and through the launch of ‘Speak Up For Southport’ you can join us in doing just that! We’d love to hear from people sharing what is great in this town. This campaign aims to promote pride, positivity and potential for Southport, which is seeing impactful changes happening in many different areas. It’s time to negate negativity and nebulise the nay-sayers!”
People are invited to get involved as the campaign takes place between:- 17 August 2026 and 25 September 2026.
Geoff and Andrew said:- “We are encouraging people to record short videos in response to the question – ‘Why I Love Southport’. The clips should be 15 to 20 seconds in length, and if possible filmed with a background that supports or represents your message. We want them to look as gorgeous as possible. They can be landscape or portrait. You will need to tick a box on a release form that gives us permission to use your clip for this campaign. We will start editing the best submissions into short films and start promoting them through social media."
They continued:- “The team at SoPodio has produced a showreel, presented by Erin Strom, to demonstrate what it may look and sound like and a ‘how to’ video, that provides some practical tips on how to produce a great submission. We will be running workshops at the SoPodio studio to help people produce something brilliant and in some cases, we will be inviting people into the studio to record their message there. When you produce your video, go to Facebook and find SoPodio and you will be able to upload your video to the page; or you can post on the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group; or collaborate with SoPodio and Stand Up For Southport on Instagram. If you would like any guidance, support or further information, please contact us on:- Speak@SoPodio.com and we will get back to you.”
