POLLING stations closed yesterday, with election officials now beginning the hard task of counting votes across the borough.
 

Early turnout figures have now been released for wards across Sefton, with Formby West recording the highest turnout at 50.9%, closely followed by Birkdale (48.6%) and Ainsdale (48.3%). Meanwhile, Bootle West recorded the lowest turnout at 23.3%.
